PERSON ARRESTED FOR IMPAIRED AFTER BEING STOPPED FOR SPEEDING

(BALDWIN TOWNSHIP, ON) – A person was stopped for speeding and charged for refusal on Highway 17 and Dupuis Road.  

On May 17, 2026, at approximately 9:15 p.m. the Manitoulin Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was conducting traffic related duties, and a black pickup truck was stopped for speeding. When police spoke to the driver, a strong odour of alcoholic beverage was emanating from their breath. A roadside test registered a fail and the driver was subsequently arrested. Once back at detachment, the driver was uncooperative with police and did not provide further suitable breath samples. The pickup truck was towed and impounded and the driver’s license was suspended.   

Jacob BROWN, 26-years-old, from Baldwin Township was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired by alcohol
  • Failure or refusal to comply with demand
  • Speeding

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on July 6, 2026.
