Pop-Up Wellness Clinics at Espanola Recreation Centre

By Rosalind Russell – The Espanola Community of Care Mental Health and Substance Use Committee is hosting Pop-Up Wellness Clinics at the Espanola Recreation Centre, offering accessible, informal wellness support for community members.

Paola Oke, Commander of Community Paramedicine for the Manitoulin-Sudbury District Services Board, says community paramedics and mental health and substance use service providers will be on site to offer support, information, and connections to local health and wellness services in a welcoming, low barrier setting.

He says no appointment or referral is required.

He adds local partners including the Espanola Family Health Team, Noojmowin Teg Aboriginal Health Center, Canadian Mental Health Association, and the Manitoulin -Sudbury District Services Board who will be on hand to provide information, referral and support.

Clinics will be held Tuesday: 12:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. and Thursday: 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

Connecting individuals to services is a key function of the Community Paramedicine program, he emphasizes and these clinics will help ensure that residents of the LaCloche area are aware of the services available to them and provide a central location where they can receive information and support from multiple service providers in one convenient location.”

The Pop-Up Wellness Clinics are supported by the Community of Care Mental Health and Substance Use Committee, the Manitoulin-Sudbury District Services Board, and are funded by the Sudbury, Espanola, Manitoulin, and Elliot Lake Ontario Health Team (SEMEL OHT).
