By Rosalind Russell – The Radiation Safety Institution of Canada is coming to Elliot Lake to host information sessions on Radon.
Institute president, Natalia Mozayani, says their organization has deep historical roots in Elliot Lake, having originally been founded in response to local miners’ radon overexposure.
She says she will be in Elliot Lake on Thursday, October 8th to head up two public information sessions at Collins Hall, the first at 2:00 p.m., the second at 6:30 p.m.
Mozayani adds she will speak to the local health impacts of radon, answer questions and provide free test kit to those in attendance.
Radon test kits will be available to pick up after each information session and additional kits may be available the following week from the Algoma Public Health office in Elliot Lake. (31 Nova Scotia Walk #302, Elliot Lake, Monday to Friday 8:30 am to 4:30 pm (closed noon -1pm).)
