Robotics challenge just around the corner

By Rosalind Russell – More than 145 students will take part in the first-ever Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon “Spike in Action” Robotics Challenge next week.

Students from the district including La Renaissance in Espanola will gather at College Boreal next Tuesday competing in a series of varied robotics challenges using the LEGO Spike Prime Kit.

There are 35 teams competing to accumulate points in as many challenges as they can through the day.

The team with the highest score will have the opportunity to represent CSC Nouvelon at the upcoming LEGO Robotics Challenge for students in grades 4 to 6 during the Skills Ontario Competition on May 4.

The CSC Nouvelon “Spike in Action” Robotics Challenge will allow students to put their coding skills into practice, collaborate around STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) concepts, and develop essential and transferable digital skills. Using LEGO Spike Prime in learning strengthens student engagement, fosters critical thinking and problem-solving, and provides a stimulating and innovative learning experience.

“CSC Nouvelon is proud to offer its students an opportunity to deepen their technological education skills and enjoy an enriching experience in a friendly competition setting,” says Tom Michaud, Director of Education at CSC Nouvelon. “This initiative reflects our strong commitment to the success of every student by cultivating confidence, curiosity, and perseverance throughout their education.”
