By Rosalind Russell – Due to the recent heavy snowfalls, there are changes to drawing down the water in a local area lake in the North Shore corridor.
Eric Labelle, with Vale’s Power Department, says the water level drawdown continues on Agnew Lake as part of the 2026 Spanish & Vermillion Rivers Water Management Plan.
But, given the recent heavy snowfall recently, as well as snowpack conditions in the Upper Spanish River Watershed, it is expected that water flow will be especially heavy with the Spring melt.
He says the level of the lake will be brought down by April 1st to prevent flooding, adding it is expected the spring runoff will bring the levels back up by the May long weekend.
The drawdown is important since Agnew Lake is the prime source of water for communities in the North Shore.
