By Rosalind Russell – The province is putting $20 million towards protecting species at risk and their habitats across Ontario.
Officials say this year’s funding will support 46 community-led conservation projects, protecting a wide range of at-risk species such as Monarch butterflies, Blanding’s turtles and butternut trees.
One conservation partner, Earth Rangers, is receiving half a million dollars to develop seven new bilingual “missions” to educate learners in every corner of the province.
They say the interactive, real world environmental activities will help children and families learn about at risk species in Ontario and the simple, everyday actions they can take to help protect them.
