By Rosalind Russell – A large donation was made to Curl Sudbury on Tuesday, which will be hosting two national curling events.
Greater City Mayor Paul Lefebvre says the Greater Sudbury Development Corporation presented a cheque to Curl Sudbury in recognition of its selection as host of the 2026 Curling Canada U-21 Mixed Doubles Championship and the 2026 Canadian U-20 Championship.
He says the events are expected to attract athletes, fans and the attention of residents from across Canada.
Anna Frattini, Vice-President of the GSDC, presented a cheque for $133,000 to Curl Sudbury on behalf of the GSDC saying the two championships will give a big boost to local business and help in promoting the city.
The two championships are expected to have an economic impact of more than $600,000.
