Throughout September and October, students in Rainbow Schools will participate in the Terry Fox Run to raise funds for cancer research. This year marks the 46th year of the Marathon of Hope. To date, Rainbow Schools have raised well over $1 million for the Terry Fox Foundation.

A.B. Ellis Public School will host their 44th walk/run for Terry Fox on Monday, September 28th at 11:30 am. The walk/run will be held on the Espanola Regional Recreation track. Families and community members are welcome to donate online: https://schools.terryfox.ca/131253
Adamsdale Public School will host its annual school-wide Terry Fox Walk/Run in the schoolyard on Monday, September 28th. Staff and students will join together as a school community in the gym to honour Terry Fox and his inspiring legacy. Students will watch video clips highlighting Terry’s Marathon of Hope and will have the opportunity to share personal stories. Students will wear stickers to showcase who they are running/walking for. Donations are welcome online: https://schools.terryfox.ca/103134.
Algonquin Road Public School recognized Terry Fox’s Marathon of Hope with a walk/run during physical education classes on September 18, 2026. Students watched a video about Terry’s legacy. At the end of the day, all classes were welcome to walk together outside. Donations are welcome through SchoolCash Online until Wednesday, September 30th.
Assiginack Public School is proud to host their annual Terry Fox Run on Friday, October 2nd at 2:05 pm in the schoolyard. This year, students and staff are working toward a fundraising goal of $2,000 in support of the Terry Fox Foundation and Terry’s ongoing legacy of hope, inspiration and perseverance.
C.R. Judd Public School will host its annual school-wide Terry Fox Walk/Run in the schoolyard on Friday, September 25th. Students will learn about the legacy of Terry Fox and how they can make a difference. Students will also reflect on who they are running for and will wear stickers to share their inspiration.
Central Manitoulin Public School will host a school-wide Terry Fox Run/Walk on Friday, September 25th. During the day, students will learn about Terry’s legacy. A Toonie for Terry fundraiser will support the Terry Fox Foundation.
Charles C. McLean Public School will take part in a Terry Fox Run on Friday, September 25th from 1:35 pm to 2:50 pm. The walk will bring staff and students through Hall, Water, Dawson and Meredith streets before returning to the school.
Chelmsford Valley District Composite School will mark its 22nd Terry Fox Run on Friday, October 9th. Through the years, staff and students have raised an impressive $44,000 in support of the Terry Fox Foundation. This year, their goal is to raise $2 for each elementary student. Over the course of their fundraising efforts, students will participate in shared reading lessons exploring the Canadian hero. Students will write about Terry and will calculate how many laps around the track. Fundraising efforts will light the spark of philanthropy in students while promoting one of Rainbow District School Board’s core values of community spirit. Students are living proof that Terry’s courage and determination will never be forgotten.
Churchill Public School will participate in a Terry Fox Walk/Run on Friday, September 25th. Older students will buddy up with younger students to walk the perimeter of the schoolyard, while other students run. Funds collected will support the Terry Fox Foundation.
Confederation Secondary School staff and students will join together on Monday, September 28th during fourth period to walk/run around the school track in support of Terry Fox’s Marathon of Hope. Teachers will challenge students to see who can complete the most laps, while a volunteer tracks the total to determine the school-wide tally. Music will keep the energy high as students work to reach as many steps as possible. To celebrate their efforts, students will enjoy a cold treat in the afternoon. Students will also take part in a friendly fundraising competition.
Copper Cliff Public School participated in a Terry Fox Run on September 21st. This year’s fundraising goal is $2,250 to beat last year’s total of $2,065. Older students ran on a supervised route in the community surrounding the school while younger students ran in the schoolyard. Families were welcome to join.
Espanola High School hosted its Terry Fox Run on Wednesday, September 23rd at 1 pm. The fundraising goal is set for $5,000. Last year, staff and students embraced the challenge with enthusiasm, partaking in creative fundraising incentives and lunch-hour challenges. This year, the challenge continues with a new incentive if the school reaches its $5,000 fundraising goal.
Jean Hanson Public School took part in the 46th Annual Terry Fox Walk on Tuesday, September 22nd. Staff and students joined together for a schoolyard or community walk in honour of Terry Fox and his legacy – while raising awareness and funds to support cancer research through the Terry Fox Foundation. Together, they will carry on Terry’s vision of making a difference, one step at a time.
Lansdowne Public School will proudly honour the legacy of Terry Fox on Friday, September 25th. Throughout the week, students will learn about Terry’s incredible journey and the Marathon of Hope. Students and staff will join together for a schoolyard walk to celebrate Terry’s spirit of hope, courage and determination. Donations for the Terry Fox Foundation are welcoming – helping to carry on Terry’s mission of a world without cancer.
Lasalle Elementary School staff and students will come together for a Terry Fox Run on Monday, September 28th in the schoolyard. Voluntary donations are welcome through SchoolCash Online or at the following link: https://ecoles.terryfox.ca/LasalleESSudbury.
Larchwood Public School will proudly participate in a Terry Fox Run on Tuesday, September 29th. Students in Grades 4/5/6 will manage the ‘funds raised’ thermometer and will record messages for morning announcements. This year, staff and students aim to raise $300 through SchoolCash Online. For the event, all students will run/walk the perimeter of the soccer field. Each student will complete an “I am running for…..” sticker to wear on their shirt. Two students will receive a Terry Fox t-shirt. The shirts can also be purchased on SchoolCash Online for $25 with all proceeds supporting the Terry Fox Foundation. Students are encouraged to wear red or grey on the day of the run.
Levack Public School has raised more than $4,210 for the Terry Fox Foundation since 2022. This year, staff and students have set a fundraising goal of $230 – or $2 per student. The school-wide Terry Fox Run will occur on Friday, September 25th. This event will commemorate the 46th anniversary of Terry Fox’s Marathon of Hope.
Little Current Public School students and staff will join together to support Terry Fox and his Marathon of Hope with a school-wide run on Friday, October 2nd from 2 pm to 3 pm.
MacLeod Public School will take part in the annual Terry Fox Walk/Run on Friday, September 25th at 9:30 am. Students from Kindergarten to Grade 2 will walk/run in the schoolyard, while students in Grades 3 to 8 will walk around Paris, Walford and Regent streets. All families and members of the community are welcome to join the walk to celebrate the amazing accomplishments of Terry Fox.
Monetville Public School students and staff will take part in an assembly to honour the legacy of Terry Fox on Friday, September 25th. Students will learn about Terry’s courage, determination and Marathon of Hope, as well as the lasting contribution his efforts have made for cancer research. Northeastern Elementary School will host a Terry Fox Walk/Run on Friday, October 2nd. Students will gather outdoors to walk around the school track from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm. Students are encouraged to bring a Toonie for Terry or make a donation online.
Princess Anne Public School staff and students look forward to a successful 2026 Terry Fox School Run on Thursday, September 24th. The event will begin with a school-wide assembly. Queen Elizabeth II Public School will host a Terry Fox Walk/Run on Friday, October 2nd. Students will walk/run around the school track. Families are welcome to make donations in support of the Terry Fox Foundation. Students will also join together for a school-wide assembly to learn about Terry Fox and his Marathon of Hope.
R.H. Murray Public School students and staff will join together to honour the legacy of Terry Fox and continue his message of courage, perseverance and hope with a walk/run on Friday, September 25th. The event will begin with a special assembly highlighting Terry’s remarkable life and determination. During the assembly, students will hear personal stories from peers and staff who have demonstrated resilience by overcoming challenges in their own lives – creating a meaningful connection between the school community and Terry’s journey. The assembly will conclude with a performance by the school’s Ukulele Club before students and staff put their feet to the pavement. Together they will walk, run or jog around the schoolyard in support of Terry Fox’s dream and the ongoing fight against cancer.
R.L. Beattie Public School will host a Terry Fox Run/Walk on Tuesday, September 29th. Students and staff will walk the school track to continue Terry’s message of hope, perseverance, and the belief that everyone has the ability to make a meaningful difference in the world. Students will take part in an activity linked to media literacy by designing posters about Terry Fox and his journey. Each class will receive a puzzle piece for which students will share their hopes and dreams for the school year. Puzzle pieces will be brought together to create a large map of Canada – serving as a reminder that like Terry, we can all dream big and work together towards a common goal.
Redwood Acres Public School students will walk/run around the perimeter of the school for 30 minutes in honour of Terry Fox on Friday, September 25th. Students will learn about Terry Fox’s Marathon of Hope through various indoor learning activities. Students will prepare their own messages of hope and are encouraged to bring in a Toonie for Terry.
S. Geiger Public School will take part in a Terry Fox Walk/Run on Thursday, September 24th at 1:45 pm in the schoolyard. Families are welcome. Students will watch a motivational video from the Terry Fox Foundation and will join together for a kick-off assembly. Sudbury Secondary School will kick off its fourth annual Multicultural Day on Friday, October 2nd with a Terry Fox Run – bringing staff and students together to honour Terry’s legacy of courage, commitment, compassion and community. Participants are encouraged to walk or run around the school track to honour the Canadian spirit and shared values that unite us all while setting the stage for a day that celebrates the many cultures represented at Sudbury Secondary School.
Walden Public School will host its annual Terry Fox Walk on Friday, September 25th. This event will bring together students, staff and family members for a community walk on an established route. Families are welcome and encouraged to contribute to this worthwhile cause through online donations.
Westmount Avenue Public School took part in its third annual Sensory Walk for Terry Fox on Friday, September 18th. Students walked the perimeter of the playground with a unique sensory experience.
