By Rosalind Russell – Manitoulin OPP will welcome officers and supporters of the annual Torch Run in support of the Special Olympics Ontario today.
Constable Berkley Parisien says the run will be held today starting out from the Mindemoya School at ten am this morning.
Parisien says the Ontario Law Enforcement Torch Run is the largest public awareness vehicle and grass-roots fundraiser for Special Olympics Ontario.
She adds known as Guardians of the Flame, law enforcement members and Special Olympics athletes carry the “Flame of Hope” into the Opening Ceremony of local competitions, and into Special Olympics Provincial, National, Regional and World Games.
Parisien adds Manitoulin’s Olympians are excited to join in the local event and carry the torch.
