Two new physicians in Elliot Lake

By Rosalind Russell – The City of Elliot Lake has two new physicians who will alleviate the list of patients without a doctor in the community and surrounding area.

According to the release, Dr. Will Wannan, is proud to serve the community that raised him.

(After completing medical school in Romania and residency training with the Northern Ontario School of Medicine University, Dr. Wannan has chosen to build his practice here in Elliot Lake, where he is raising his family with his wife, Bogdanna, and their three children).

Dr. Wannan will be joining the Elliot Lake Family Health Team, providing hospitalist inpatient care at St. Joseph’s General Hospital and will be taking over the patient roster of his father, Dr. Barry Wannan, who is retiring at the end of this month.

Dr. Leila Zarghami, (CZAR-Gam-me) joins the health team through the Practice Ready Ontario Program.

Her medical journey spans over 15 years, including roles in both Iran and Canada.
(Dr. Zarghami has most recently worked as a family physician in Iran and has also served as a virtual infectious disease consultant in Canada.)

She will also be providing hospitalist services at the hospital and will be taking on new patients through the Health Care Connect Program.

Both have begun their practice and are welcomed by the community.

If you are currently without a family physician, please contact Health Care Connect at 1-800-445- 1822 to register.

Priority will be given to individuals already enrolled in the program.
