Upcoming NSHN Department Closure – Thessalon Site

By Rosalind Russell – The North Shore Health Network’s Thessalon site’s emergency department will be closed today (Friday).

Officials with the Network says the closure, which will begin at 8:00 a.m. and reopen at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday is due to a physician shortage.

According to the release, the network will have a Nurse Practitioner available on site from 8:00 am – 10:00 pm today.

The network stresses anyone requiring immediate medical attention should call 9-1-1. 

Ambulances will also be re-routed to one of the following closest Emergency  including Blind River.

The North Shore Health Network continues to investigate all possible options to provide safe access to care and to avoid closure.

• Sault Area Hospital – 750 Great Northern Rd., Sault Ste. Marie, ON

Efforts to find coverage are ongoing and should a physician be secured NSHN will reverse
