Walk to protect water and wildlife in the Serpent River Watershed set to go

By Rosalind Russell – The Ten Thousand Turtles Land & Water Protectors are hosting their Second Annual Nesting Trek & Water Walk later this month.

The organization is inviting the public to come out to the Sunrise Ceremony and Water Walk on Saturday, May 16th at 8 am at 1339 Pronto Road in the Township of the North Shore with a potluck feast to follow at the Serpent River First Nation Community Centre.

As part of the walk, participants will learn about the threats to the Serpent River Watershed.

They will also learn about the continuing efforts to raise awareness about environmental impacts of a proposed quarry development on treaty and traditional territory of the Anishnaabeg.
