
By Rosalind Russell – A Wiikwemkoong teen, Emilee Ann Pitawanakwat recently traveled to Park City, Utah to compete in a Hoop Dance competition hosted by the American Indian Services in Park City.
According to the release, over the course of two days, she competed in the teen women’s category, was the youngest competitor at 13 years of age and was able to show her skills as a Hoop Dancer in three different dances.
This past Saturday, she was awarded the Teen Girls Hoop Dance Champion for 2026.
Pitawanakwat is trained and mentored by 4X World Hoop Dance Champion Dallas Arcand and her mother, Sara.
