Working hard to qualify for the Olympics with Shilo Rousseau

By Rosalind Russell – Wintry weather did not stop a full house coming together last Friday at the Thessalon Curling Club for a watch party for Thessalon’s Shilo Rousseau and her attempt to attend the Olympics as a biathlon athlete.

She reported yesterday (Sunday, January 10th) that she had a great race after a tough one the day before.

Under sunny skies in Oberhof, Germany she qualified in 47th place in the pursuit race.

Hitting 19 of 20 on her targets allowed her to finish in 34th place to score some World Cup points.

She currently sits second in North American in the standings and this was her second-best finish on the World Cup

Rousseau adds she leaves today (Monday, January 12th) for Rupholding, Germany to begin racing once again on Wednesday with a relay race.

Sharing her journey from overseas, she says her parents Yves and Cecilia, were also on hand at the watch party to receive donations from supporters and she extends a thank you to everyone for all their continued support in her bid for the Olympic games.
