By Rosalind Russell – The Dewar family of Manitoulin Island kicked into gear in mid-March to get that beautiful maple sap tapped.
Travis Dewar says that also meant it was time to turn that first delicious litre of gold into helping those battling cancer in Northern Ontario.
He says this year’s 11th annual Dewar Family Maple Syrup Auction was held last week, and this year’s top bidder is Myles MacLeod, with a bid of $1,200.00.
Travis adds that the auction has raised $23,550 for cancer treatment in Northern Ontario over the last decade.
He says they will be gifting the proceeds to Health Sciences North soon where they will be used in the Northern Cancer Center to help those battling cancer in Northern Ontario.
He and the family also extend their thanks to the wider community for all their support!
