21 years of madness, music and dance!

By Rosalind Russell – More than 325 Grade 5 and 6 students from French-language elementary schools in the Sudbury and French River region will take part in a French-focused gathering in Sudbury today.

According to the release, the cultural event will be held at the MacDonald-Cartier High School focusing on music and dance.

Organized by the Cultural Animation team, Folie furieuse, now in its 21st year, allows students to discover and celebrate Francophone music.

In preparation the young people learn ten songs, practice recognizing the artists, and then take part in an interactive quiz to put their knowledge to the test with each school also presenting a lip sync performance accompanied by a choreography in front of their peers.

This year’s event will feature special guest judges, Education Director Carl Dussault of the Conseil scolaire du Grand Nord, and a surprise Franco-Ontarian artist, who will also be the featured artist.
