By Rosalind Russell – North Shore Search and Rescue held a training session last weekend getting in and out of the frozen waters of an Espanola lake.
Search Coordinator, Adam Page, says the Ice Rescue Technician Course was held at Apsey Lake in Espanola to provide an opportunity for new members to be certified and others to update their certification.
He says conservation officers from across the North East Region also took part.
Page adds the skills included Self Rescue, One and Two Person Rescue, Rapid Deployment Craft Training, and more.
Page adds the recertification must be done every three years adding the unit also has new equipment including Ice Rescue, Marine Capability, and most recently an RPAS, more commonly know as a drone.
