Former judge appointed as Canada’s next Governor General

By Rosalind Russell – Former Supreme Court Justice Louise Arbourwill be Canada’s next Governor General.

The 79-year-old, fully bilingual Arbour will replace Mary Simon, whose term ends soon.

The Governor General represents the King in Canada and is commander-in-chief of our military.

Known for a long record of protecting human rights, in 2022, Arbour headed a probe into sexual harassment in the military.

It prompted a change to how the military she now commands prosecutes misconduct.
