
By Rosalind Russell – Wikwemikong Tribal Police Chief, Ron Gignac, was honoured as Officer of the Year by the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police.
The association also honoured the police service’s communication director, Jackie White, as the recipient of the 2026 OACP/CCN Catherine Martin Award of Excellence in Media Relations.
According to the release, she is being recognized for her leadership, innovation, and dedicated service in advancing public safety and law enforcement support through modern communications.
She has over 20 years of experience in her field.
This award recognizes a sworn or civilian member who demonstrates consistent dedication and professionalism in the strategic use of media and/or social media to educate and showcase the profession of policing in the community, supporting public safety, or advancing investigations in the Province of Ontario.
She has transformed the Service’s digital platforms into vital tools for community education, transparency, and operational success. Her efforts have significantly enhanced public understanding of policing operations while building deep community trust and engagement.
