Arts group launch campaign for a new home

By Rosalind Russell – The members of the Arts and Culture Round Table in Elliot Lake, commonly called ARIEL, have elected two new officers at their annual general meeting held June 8, 2023.

Levina Arseneau is now Treasurer and Prisca Campbell has begun a two-year term as president of the Board.

She says the first order of business for the new leadership is to secure a permanent address for the not-for-profit since they lost their former home when the Lester B. Pearson Civic Centre roof collapsed in 2019.

She emphasizes to aid in the acquisition of space, a Go-Fund-Me campaign is underway to raise $1,000 to cover operating costs.

Campbell adds Murray Finn remains on the board as Past President and Gwen Goulet, formerly Vice President, is now a director at large.

She says there are two executive positions still open on the board Secretary and Vice President and hopes to fill those positions by September.

ARIEL, founded in 2008, helped in the development of the art gallery that was housed in the former Arts Centre.  Future plans for the organization included re-opening a multipurpose gallery, as well as developing Arts programming for children and adults alike.
