Blind River Public Library launches 100th anniversary celebrations

By Rosalind Russell – The Blind River Public Library has launched its 100th anniversary celebrations with a new book, and cake.

Library CEO, Jennifer Fortin says they officially launched their centennial celebrations on Monday with a cake and the release of a history book, Blind River Celebrating 100 Years 1926 to 2026.

She says it features the history of the institution decade by decade with writings, anecdotes and photos. Including the big move of 2000 when they moved from Michigan Street to their new home on Woodward Avenue.

Fortin says the celebrations will include featured authors, activities for families and other programming culminating with the centennial celebration set for Tuesday, July 7th, just in time for Community Days 2026.

She invites everyone to drop in and see what the library has to offer throughout the year and to share their ideas of how they would also like to mark the milestone.
