By Rosalind Russell – Students, past and present, staff, families and supporters are saying good-bye to two of their long-time schools.
The tours of Blind River Public School took place last week, and the final walk through for W. C. Eaket Secondary School will take place June 13th (12 noon to 3 pm), turning a page on local history.
The students will be making Three Rivers School their new digs at 158 Youngfox Road this September.
A joint project between the Algoma District School Board and the Conseil scolaire du Grand Nord, the new school will include 361 spaces, 64 childcare spaces and 72 French-language elementary spaces.
Junior kindergarten to Grade 12 students will share some common areas but will continue to operate as two separate schools similar to La Renaissance and Sacred Heart in Espanola.
The project has taken several years to complete, since it was announced before the pandemic of 2020.
