Brown water discolouration in Espanola due to lake turnover

By Rosalind Russell – Some residents in Espanola have noticed water discolouration over the last few weeks, but Public Works says there are no concerns.

A staffer says brown water or light discolouration appears when the lake currents changed, called turnover, usually in the Spring and the Fall.

He says residents can contact public works with their concerns, and the department will look at the situation on a case-by-case basis.

He adds the discolouration does not affect the water quality and is safe to drink.

If anyone has any concerns, they can contact Public Works at 705 869 1751.
