Canada Post statement: An update on negotiations

By Rosalind Russell – All strike and lockout action has been suspended in the ongoing Canada Post dispute.

According to Canada Post, they have reached agreements in principle with the Canadian Union of Postal Workers but have yet to finalize the paperwork.

To that end, both sides have agreed that all strike/lockout activity is suspended.

Both sides also agreed there will be comment on the details of the deal until the agreements are finalized.

In a separate release, Canada Post states the corporation’s financial situation continued to deteriorate in the third quarter of 2025 as it recorded a loss before tax of $541 million, the largest quarterly loss in the company’s history.

They state the strike activity and uncertainty continued to drive customers to competitors for their deliveries, leading to a parcels revenue decline of approximately 40 per cent.
