Cheque presentation

“Community Living Espanola supports individuals with developmental disabilities along their journey to achieve their goals and dreams and assists them to live, to work, and to choose their own path.”

The impetus in every program developed by C.L.E. for  its clients is geared to the above Mission Statement. The Lucille G. Joyce and Genesis group homes provide 24 hour care for individuals requiring a higher level of care. Activities include cooking, baking, gardening, “Fun Fridays”, games, socials, karaoke nights, and monthly challenges. This is all made possible by an extraordinarily dedicated staff.

A more independent lifestyle is provided by the Supported Independent Living Program. Clients live on their own with daily visits by qualified staff to assist with meals, medication, and appointments. This vital program promotes inclusion and a feeling of belonging in a caring community.

Many special events are part of the “Community Participation Supports.” Boat tours, hikes, computer instruction, annual colour run, schooling, fishing, Cambrian College courses plus other activities all encourage clients to be part of the community.

The Espanola Lions Club recently presented a cheque for $6,050 from “Catch the Ace”. On hand to receive the “Big Cheque” were: Louise Laplante, Executive Director, Shawna Dubreuil, Direct Support Professional, and Debbie Langlois, Human Resource Officer.

Espanola is very fortunate to have such a wonderful and needed program, with dedicated staff, who help those within our community with developmental disabilities enjoy “full citizenship in communities where they are valued and accepted.”
