By Rosalind Russell – Volunteers will be busy this weekend distributing baskets to families throughout the districts.
This Saturday, Club Richelieu Les Patriotes members will distribute 125 Christmas baskets for families in need in the Greater Sudbury area.
The club has been doing this for 35 years.
The Espanola Elks in Espanola will also be distributing their hampers, over 225, with the help of volunteers and service clubs throughout the North Shore corridor.
This is the 67th year for the Elks initiative carried out in partnership with the Moose 99.3 FM – CJJM Espanola.
Also, several communities will be providing Free Christmas Dinners on the big day so no one should be alone on Christmas.
They are at the Espanola Legion hosted by the Lighthouse at 4:30 pm, Little Current United Church at 2 pm, Massey Legion at 4:00 pm, The Well in Blind River at 4:30 pm and 6:30 pm, and the Collins Hall in Elliot Lake at 2 pm.

The Espanola Elks are also preparing their delivery of over 200 dinners in the Espanola and North Shore Corridor area. The Christmas spirit also includes free Christmas dinners at several locations throughout our listening area.
