By Rosalind Russell – The lack of doctors in the North Shore has led to more closures of the emergency department in Thessalon.
Over the last week, the North Shore Health Network has had to close its emergency department and another 24-hour closure is taking place today starting at 8am.
The closures are due to the lack of physicians available to cover the department and network officials say they’re doing all it can to mitigate the situation.
Those in need are advised to contact 9-1-1 with ambulances being diverted to either Blind River or Richard’s Landing, or the hospital in Sault Ste. Marie.
