By Rosalind Russell – It’s Community Living Month in Ontario and the local agency, Community Living Espanola, has some colourful events coming up to highlight their services.
CLE executive director Louise Laplante joined staff, clients and municipal council for the formal proclamation and flag-raising on Friday with Mayor Doug Gervais speaking on the importance of inclusivity in the municipality.
Laplante says she appreciates the town for their pro-active support with CLE planning not one, but two colour runs this month where clients will be joined by supporters, the first on May 14, the second hosted by Cambrian College on May 27th.
The runs are inspired by the Hindu festival Holi, an East Indian tradition that boasts an opportunity to have fun and throwing coloured water and powder at each other.
She adds there are events for clients throughout the month, but they will also host their annual yard sale at their Centre Street location on May 21st.
