Cyber incident at Northern Ontario School of Medicine University

By Rosalind Russell – The Northern Ontario School of Medicine University is recovering from what it calls a “cyber incident”.  

The post-secondary school says the incident was detected on Wednesday (May 17) and campus internet in Sudbury and Thunder Bay, shared and department drives, many university websites and services continue to be inaccessible.  

Officials say after discovering the issue, staff immediately took steps to secure and protect the network and information – with experts brought in to advise on the next steps.  

The university says it’s working to ensure critical systems are up and running as soon as possible.
