
By Rosalind Russell – Rainbow District School Board Director of Education, Bruce Bourget, says Danielle Williamson, a long-time educator has been appointed as Superintendent of Schools effective this week.
He says Williamson will oversee Special Education Programs and Services in Espanola, Manitoulin Island and Sudbury adding with more than 24 years of experience as an educator and administrator in elementary and secondary schools, she is well prepared to assume this senior leadership role. Bourget says most recently, she served as Principal of Special Education Programs and Services, championing inclusive environments for students and staff at a system-wide level.
Since joining the board in 2001, Williamson has led diverse teams, implemented board priorities, contributed to professional learning, and supported the growth of future leaders, a hallmark of her leadership.
She is looking forward to meeting various staff at the schools throughout the board’s jurisdiction as part of her new role as superintendent,
Williamson has served as Principal of R.H. Murray Public School, Chelmsford Public School, and Princess Anne Public School. She was also the first Principal of the revitalized K to 12 school in Chelmsford, Chelmsford Valley District Composite School.
After obtaining a Bachelor of Arts degree from Laurentian University, Danielle Williamson completed a Bachelor of Teaching at the University of Western Sydney, Australia. She also has a Master of International Education in School Leadership from Charles Sturt University, Australia, along with additional qualifications in Special Education, Guidance and Leadership.
