By Rosalind Russell – Motorists who access the Potomac Bridge on Chiblow Lake Road in the Municipality of Huron Shores can expect some slow downs and traffic stops.
The municipality is advising residents and motorists that work on the bridge is set to begin next week, Monday, January 13th.
The work was originally scheduled to begin last fall but was postponed due to the need for additional environmental testing, which was crucial to ensure minimal impact on local ecosystems and that it meets all environmental regulations.
Preliminary work will begin next week with the contractor bringing in vehicles and equipment although no major construction impacts are expected during the initial work period.
The municipality adds every effort will be made to minimize disruptions, although there may be reduced speeds or short-term traffic interruptions as work progresses.
The bridge provides passage across the Potomac River, just north of Iron Bridge.
Motorists and pedestrians are reminded to exercise caution when travelling through the area, obey all posted signage, and reduce speeds to help ensure the safety of workers and the public.
