Doctor shortage shuts down Thessalon emergency department once again

By Rosalind Russell – After just going through a 48-hour shutdown of the Thessalon Emergency Department, the North Shore Health Network has had to shut it down once again today.

The doctor shortage has led to the network having to shut down its emergency department from 8 am this morning to 8 pm this evening.

The network is reviewing the situation day by day.

Anyone requiring immediate medical attention should call 9-1-1 and ambulances will be re-routed to either the Blind River or Richards Landing-Matthews sites, or Sault Area Hospital.
