Elliot Lake Fire Chief John Thomas says fire fighters were dispatched to a fire on Westhill Rd yesterday.
He says upon arrival, the fire department crew was able to extinguish the fire quickly adding the home sustained extensive smoke damage throughout.
Thomas adds one occupant was transported to hospital and two pets perished.
He says the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
