By Rosalind Russell -Firefighters and other volunteers in Elliot Lake went door-to-door on Friday to collect food and cash donations for the Elliot Lake Emergency Food Bank.
Terry Atchinson with the food bank says they raised $6,345 in donations and 4,213 items of food.
He says, based on Food Bank Canada’s formula, that translates to $16,220 for a total to date of $22,565.
However, Atchinson adds, that number will be higher when they receive the final count from online donations.
He extends a thank you to the firefighters and volunteers, as well as all of those who donated to the drive.
He adds that anyone wishing to donate can drop off items and cash at the fire hall.
Photos provided by Terry Atchinson … the donations have arrived at the food bank and now will be sorted for distribution to those in need.
