By Rosalind Russell – Fans of the Elliot Lake Vikings are coming together to welcome back the team this fall.
Team president, Jef Jarmovitch says the return of the team represents more than just the return of Junior A hockey to Elliot Lake, stressing it marks a renewed commitment to the community, the fans, and the proud hockey tradition that has long been part of the city’s identity.
He adds the Vikings franchise has been reinstated, effective immediately, with the Northern Ontario Junior A League.
Repairs to the Rogers Arena are on schedule for a September opening, so his team will return after their leave of absence when it reopens.
He now has the job of finding new players, seeking partnership opportunities, getting season tickets sold and more.
Jarmovitch says one of the most important jobs, coaching has been filled with the appointment of Taurean White as the club’s head coach and general manager.
