By Rosalind Russell – Algoma-Manitoulin MPP Bill Rosenberg was on Manitoulin Island this week announcing major funding for three key projects.
He met with Northeastern Manitoulin and the Island Mayor Al McNevin to present an over $1.5M cheque ($1,535,463) to be used for the rehabilitation of Blake Street cast iron watermains.
McNevin also accepted funding of over $250,000 to update the NEMI Recreation Centre in Little Current, which involves repairing the roof and replacing three oil furnaces with propane furnaces.
Geoff Cole of Cole-Munro Trout Farms was also on hand to receive over $387,000 to purchase new fish cage equipment to expand operations, create six new jobs and upskilling five existing positions.
Rosenberg also visited the local Artisan Centre to present two grants for $252,700, from the Ontario Trillium Foundation, which will be used to develop new recreational opportunities and deliver new arts programming in Little Current and the surrounding area.
