Espanola High School will host its First Annual Eco Job and Volunteer Fair on Earth Day, Wednesday, April 22, 2026, from 10 am to 2 pm. The Eco Fair will showcase volunteer, employment and educational opportunities in the environmental sector.
Eco Fair participants include the Regional Business Centre, Collège Boréal, Ontario Parks, Z’Gamok Enterprises, reThinkgreen, Mukwa Adventures, Cambrian College, The Massey Fair, Kenjgewin Teg, Indigenous Tourism Ontario, MooseFM, and Friends of Manitoulin Turtles.
“We are grateful to the many community partners who are joining us for the Eco Fair,” says Espanola High School Principal Andrea Therrien. “Our students welcome the opportunity to learn more about the environmental sector with a focus on volunteerism, careers and education. This is a natural next step in our efforts to protect and preserve our planet as today’s students will continue to lead the way.”
“Understanding what employers, post-secondary programs, and community groups do in this growing field helps students explore real-world pathways where their interests can take root and flourish into meaningful careers, careers that give back to the world,” says teacher Jayson Stewart, EcoSchools Lead at Espanola High School.
He adds: “It also gives students the knowledge to make informed choices. When students connect their learning to tangible impacts, they are better prepared to solve environmental problems and make a deeper contribution to their local and global communities.”

Espanola High School has earned the highest standing in Eco Schools Canada – Platinum – for multiple years.
Rainbow District School Board was one of three school boards in Canada to achieve 100 per cent EcoSchools certification in 2025.
