Espanola High School hosts open house

By Rosalind Russell – Rainbow Public District schools are hosting open houses this week, including Espanola High this evening.

Manitoulin Secondary held their open house last night and this evening, it will be Espanola’s turn.

The school will open its doors at 6 pm and all students within the school’s boundaries are welcome to participate, regardless of which school they currently attend.

Principal Andrea Therrien says the public can tour the school including classrooms, labs and other facilities, engage with teachers, staff and current students, learn about course offerings, clubs and sports teams, ask questions and register on site.

She adds there will also be a session about senior program opportunities including Specialist High Skills Majors (SHSM), Co-operative Education, Dual Credits and the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP).

Therrien adds they will also review four specialty programs: Not for Profit – Community Development and Leadership; Construction – Carpentry Techniques; Hospitality and Tourism – Culinary Arts and Food Preparation – Cosmetology; and Transportation – Auto Shop.

The school also offers a variety of opportunities in the skilled trades.
