By Grant Lewis – What has 18 teams, 225 kids, dedicated coaches, skill development, tournaments, healthy exercise and most importantly fun? Espanola Minor Soccer! Their season starts May 26th and ends July 17th, and includes all of the above!
The Espanola Lions club appreciates the time and effort of the volunteer coaches and refs. It takes a lot of planning and organization to pull off a successful season. Aidan Kallioinen and his staff do exactly that.
It was a no brainer to donate $2,000 to Espanola Minor Soccer. The funds will help in purchasing new equipment: 30 new soccer balls, new corner flags, goalie gloves, clipboards for officials, new cone markers, whistles, and first aid kits. We know this does not come cheap! Local businesses help out by sponsoring teams, as well as support from the Dairy Farmers’ Co-op, O.J.Graphix, and the Lions club.
Seen peeking through the window to receive the cheque are Sam Brown, Aidan Kallioinen, Josh Chaput and Christine Currie.
Have a great season !!!
