By Rosalind Russell – With the successes of the inaugural PRIDE celebrations in Espanola last year, plans are being made to host another weekend of inclusivity.
Local PRIDE committee spokesperson, Aya Dufour, made a presentation to Espanola council last night outlining the successes of last year stating over 600 people took in the various events including movie night, children’s activities, comedy night and family fun gatherings.
She asked the council for their support by waiving the fees to access facilities including the Oval, to cover the event insurance and pay for updated maintenance of the PRIDE painted sidewalk.
The tentative dates for this year’s events are June 21st and 22nd.
The ask has been forwarded to the Corporate Services Committee for review.
