Female artist focus of International Women’s Day exhibit in Blind River

By Rosalind Russell – The Timber Village Museum in Blind River is focusing its International Women’s Day on an exhibit by on a female artist who hails from the town but now lives in southern Ontario.

Bridget Tremblay is a teacher of the blind and partially sighted, a mother and an artist who graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from Laurentian University and a Bachelor of Education at Lakehead University.

Her exhibit celebrating women’s strength and resilience, Warrior Women, will open at the museum on International Women’s Day, March 8th and run until May 1st.

She says she has always loved creating art using it to express her emotions heightened by the birth of a son, adding she had been told she would never have children, so the miracle of his birth brought out the fighter in her, and thus Warrior Women.

Admission is by donation, and Tremblay will meet with the public from 1 pm to 3 pm.

Meet the artist, enjoy live music by Cactus Flowers, light refreshments, and time to mingle. The gift shop will be open.
