By Rosalind Russell – The Fifth Annual Heart of Gold Radiothon hosted by Moose 99.3 FM in Espanola has raised over $12,000 in monetary donations and donated items.
The radiothon has raised over $4,500 so far, and counting, to be donated to the Northern Ontario Families of Children with Cancer.
There is also donations exceeding $7,000 in donated items to go towards the NOFCC’s Gold Soiree set for September 26th in Sudbury.
The items will be auctioned off with the funds going to the organization.
The campaign continues all next week with the ongoing bottle drive in partnership with the radio and the Espanola Beer Store with all the proceeds presented at the soiree.
Several donors dropped by the Moose 99.3 FM CJJM studio on Thursday to support the Fifth Annual Heart of Gold Radiothon in support of the Northern Ontario Families of Children with Cancer. Gerry Massicotte, who hosted a barbecue at Espanola’s last Farmer’s Market of the season last week for the cause, thanked all the volunteers and businesses that supported the radiothon raising $3,000. Aidan Kaillionen also ran a half-marathon raising pledges for the NOFCC and made a $350 donation. Carol Simond, representing the Espanola Knights Cruisers Club, also dropped by with a $700 donation. Individual donations have brought the total raised so far to just over $4,500. The final tally will not be known until late next week. The public can also drop off bottles at The Espanola Beer Store all this week.
