By Rosalind Russell – A Memorial Walk is being held tomorrow in Wiikwemkoong to mark the passing of Anthony Mandamin twenty years ago.
According to the Wikwemikong Tribal Police, Mandamin was killed in a hit-and-run on September 16, 2006, in Wiikwemkoong, and the driver of the vehicle responsible failed to remain at the scene, leaving the case unsolved.
Mandamin was only 25 when he died and there is a $50,000 reward for any information related to his death.
The community holds a memorial walk in his name every year to raise awareness and help the family and community find closure.
This year’s walk is set for tomorrow morning, which begins at 9 a.m. at Pat’s Café.
The police continue to pursue leads in the case, and anyone with information is encouraged to contact them.
