By Rosalind Russell – A Manitoulin Island volunteer firefighters association will be outfitted with new gear this year.
Algoma-Manitoulin MPP Bill Rosenberg met with Northeastern Manitoulin & The Islands Fire Chief Dwayne Deschamps last week to present a Fire Protection Grant for $16,000.
Deschamps thanked Rosenberg for the funding, which he says will be used for the purchase of 15 sets of turnout gear.
Roseberg thanked him and his crew for their continued service and the new equipment would enhance the safety and well-being of the volunteers and the wider community.
