By Rosalind Russell – North Shore corridor’s Laura Courtemanche has founded a free garden club to support and educate people about food growing and making preserves.
She says the idea behind it is the World War II Victory Gardens, focusing on self-sufficiency and taking care of oneself during hard times.
The first meeting will be held as a meet and greet today with any new members and testimonials from last year’s members, which was their first year.
The gathering is set for this evening at 6:30 pm at St. Andrew’s United Church.
She adds a minimal investment is required in terms of seeds and gardening tools.
