By Rosalind Russell – The first High School Arm Wrestling Tournament in the North was held this week hosted by Espanola High School.
There were 56 athletes entered into the Spanish River Invitational with representation from three schools: Espanola High, Lively High and Lasalle Secondary,
Two weight categories were contested for girls, and three for the boys with first, second and third place winners receiving certificates and bragging rights.
Doug Behrens traveled from Sault St. Marie to officiate the tournament with help from Brad Wad of the Rock City Reapers.
With this success, the event is expected to become an annual one for students wanting to test their grit on the arm-wrestling tables.
