Island-wide clean up has several winners

By Rosalind Russell – April is over and with that, Manitoulin Streams Third Annual Island Wide Garbage Cleanup event has ended with communities across the Manitoulin Island being the big winners.

The nature group sends out a big shoutout to Assiginack Public School for winning the School Cleanup Award, the Town of Northeastern Manitoulin and the Islands – NEMI for winning the Community Cleanup Award, and the United Church of Little Current for winning the Business Cleanup Award.

The annual event is held every April with schools and individuals, businesses and volunteer groups hosting various cleanups, not only of the waterways but also the streets and more throughout their communities.
