Manitoulin Health Centre’s two hospitals benefits from provincial Legion donations

By Rosalind Russell – The Manitoulin Health Centre’s two hospitals have both received a substantial donation from the Legion Provincial Command.

Communication Lead Dawn Noble McCann says members of the provincial affiliations, the Royal Canadian Legion Ontario Provincial Command Branches and the RCL Ontario Provincial Command Ladies’ Auxiliary Charitable Foundation, made a funding presentation on Monday afternoon for $18,000.

She says the donation will be split between the Mindemoya and Little Current sites, which ran a fundraising campaign in 2025 to raise $350,000 for 25 smart infusion pumps.

She says they applied for the grants to Provincial Command through their Island Branches 177 and 514.

McCann adds smart Infusion pumps significantly improve patient safety by preventing intravenous medication errors (wrong dose, rate, drug) through built-in drug libraries and dose error reduction software.
