NOSDA meets with several ministers as part of AMO conference

By Rosalind Russell -The Northern Ontario Service Deliverers Association had several meetings with several Ontario ministers at the Association of Municipalities of Ontario Conference in Ottawa.

Executive Director Fern Dominelli says the conference was an opportunity to talk to various ministers about social services priorities for the North including mental health supports, education and Ontario Works.

He says they met with Minister Michael Parsa (Minister of Children, Community and Social Services) to advocate for Northern Ontario families and workers urging the province to revisit Ontario Works earnings exemptions introducing a flat $1,000 a month exemption to help recipients transition into employment with financial stability.

Dominelli adds he will be making a number of reports to the board and supportive agencies about the responses from different ministries following the conference.
