Ontario man running in Alberta byelection … against Poilievre

By Rosalind Russell –  Dillon Anderson lives roughly 26-hundred kilometres away from the federal riding of Battle River-Crowfoot, but his name is on the by-election ballot.

The Callander (Ontario) resident has parachuted into the Alberta riding, as part of the Longest Ballot Committee.

Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre is also running there, but Anderson says he’s running to advocate for electoral reform and highlight the flaws in the current system.

Right now, the signatures of 100 electors are required to get your name on the ballot.

Anderson says they want to see changes from the current first-past-the-post system to proportional representation.

He says that would mean the Green Party would have 10 seats right now instead of the one they won in the April election.

As of yesterday, Anderson is one of 40 confirmed candidates in the Aug. 18 by-election.
